Springtime in St. Joseph

Enjoy the sunshine with a getaway to good old St. Joe, MO!

Spring in Missouri is truly something. Temperatures range from the 50s to the 70s, the sun shines (mostly, anyway!) and everything feels fresh and new. Mother Nature truly shines, and visitors to northwest Missouri can partake in the simple beauty of springtime in the Midwest. If you are looking to spend some time in the great outdoors this spring, look no further than the Show Me State.

St. Joseph is a great spot just north of Kansas City to connect with nature in springtime and throughout the year. With the Missouri River running along its west side and natural areas all around the city, it’s an ideal spot to hike, bike, explore and more. A visit to St. Joe means affordable, family-friendly fun awaits in Missouri.

Ways to enjoy spring in St. Joe, Missouri, in 2025

  • Stroll along the St. Joseph Parkway. More than 26 miles of trails wind through the city connecting various parks and natural areas. St. Joseph was actually one of the first spots in the country to develop an urban trail of this caliber. Today, guests can run, walk or bike along this winding path, enjoying the sites and sounds of St. Joe.
  • Learn while you play at the Remington Nature Center. Nestled along the Missouri River, the Remington Nature Center is a destination for anyone curious about the natural world around them. Check out the website for special programming opportunities and consider visiting on Friday, when kids can help feed the fish at the center.
  • Enjoy the Missouri River with a walk or jog along the St. Joseph Riverwalk. St. Joseph was built because of the river, so it’s obvious that it would be home to a stunning Riverwalk. Stroll, bike or run along the riverfront for miles, soaking up the beautiful flowers and plants along the way. Wide walkways mean that this path is easily ADA accessible.
  • Take a day trip to see the blooms at the Missouri Arboretum, located at Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville. Log onto the website before you hit this spot and you can launch a free audio walking tour of this pretty spot. More than 1,700 trees and 160 species can be spotted at this peaceful place.
  • Play your heart out at Ricky Dean’s. This entertainment spot features indoor and outdoor activities to keep you having fun come rain or shine. On sunny days, challenge your travel partners to pickleball or have a blast in the bumper boats. If it’s raining outside, head indoors for blacklight mini golf, batting cages and more.
