Midwest Road Trip: Enjoying America’s Heartland

Michael Moore • June 17, 2026

Ready to spend some time in the flyover states? Adventures in the Midwest await!

The Midwest is an underrated destination in the United States. From Chicago to St. Louis and Wichita to Omaha, the Midwest is overflowing with cities that offer endless fun for visitors and locals looking to experience America's Heartland. The Midwest is peppered with classic icons everyone should visit at one point, from the St. Louis Arch (the Gateway to the West) to Mount Rushmore. If you’re ready to roadtrip, the Midwest is ripe for exploring.

Grab your RV (or road trip vehicle of choice), your travel companions and get ready for an unforgettable time. From city parks filled with unique play structures to museums filled with interesting artifacts, the Midwest is filled with engaging, interesting and downright fun spots for visitors of all ages to enjoy. Pack your bags and get ready to make memories.

Start in Branson

The Live Entertainment Capital of the World, Branson is the perfect jumping off point for your Midwest adventures. You can’t go wrong spending a day at Silver Dollar City riding rides and catching a few live shows. Water lovers can take a boat ride or even rent a boat and explore Table Rock Lake. Thrillseekers will love the new Runaway Mountain Coaster, the first of its kind in the Ozarks. There is so much to see in Branson (Titanic Museum, anyone?) you won’t want to leave!

Head south to Fayetteville, Arkansas

Less than two hours from Branson, Fayetteville is a fun college town in the Natural State. Start your Arkansas adventures with a stroll down Dickson Street, enjoying the sights and sounds of this lively area. If you’re a college sports fan, take a walk through the University of Arkansas’ campus and see why Fayetteville is a top SEC city. End your trip with a visit to the Clinton House Museum, where a former President and Secretary of State were married and started their lives together.

Go west to see Tulsa

About five hours west of Fayetteville is Tulsa, Oklahoma’s second most-populous city. Both the Tulsa Zoo and the Oklahoma Aquarium are great stops for your Oklahoma itinerary, allowing guests of all ages to get up close and personal with a variety of animals and creatures. Then check out the USA BMX Headquarters and Hall of Fame, which opened in 2022. Round out your Tulsa trip with a visit to the Tulsa Air & Space Museum to learn all about aircraft and more.

Happy Travels!
