Wine lovers, rejoice: this one’s for you! St. James, Missouri, right outside of Rolla, has all the makings of a fun getaway: small-town charm, affordable fun, and, of course, wineries! This mid-Missouri destination is a year-round location for fun and memory-making.


St. James may be a small town (population less than 5,000!), but it is certainly big-time fun for travelers. Wine enthusiasts, especially, will find this destination ideal for an exciting weekend that is as relaxing as it is refreshing. So pack your favorite day-drinking attire and get ready to enjoy some great wine in the Show Me State.

  1. St. James Winery- The largest winery in Missouri, St. James Winery has been around since 1970 and has earned many awards in the past 55 years. This spot is the perfect destination for travel parties of any size. Stroll the vineyard, relax in the wine garden or just enjoy the ambiance of this charming spot. 
  2. Prairie Barn Winery- Also a Christmas Tree Farm, Prairie Barn Winery is located just three miles from St. James Winery and offers sweeping views of the beautiful land and growing Christmas trees. Stop in for samples of the delicious wine and stay for the scenery and unique vibes. 
  3. Spencer Manor Winery- Started in 2019, Spencer Manor Winery hosts a myriad of fun events on-site and can also accommodate weddings and more. St. James’ newest winery, Spencer Manor Winery has unique wine caves, plenty of space for hanging out on-site and more. Don’t skip this spot!
